wind and genereal tree animation how??

Hey everybody,

i'm working on a personal project for learning how to create cgi landscapes and i have some questions about plant models and wind or force actions on them. perhaps you saw elysium and remember the part where one of the illegal spacecrafts crashed at elysium. it crashed through buildings and more interesting for my project through alot of palm trees. The leaves and the whole tree behaved really natural i think. How is it done in feature films? Do they rig the hero trees? For wind i only now three public wind animation tools (Speedtree, Onyx, Vue), but what if you modeled for example a realistic tree character with branches, leaves, twigs etc. what should be my workflow? Is there a nice way to do a dynamic rig for a tree in 3dsmax with bones? And if yes is it possible to let the rig being affected by wind forces.
I want to be able to animate my own trees in a realistic way. Any help or ideas are welcome
