New to modeling: Guidance Questions

Hello everyone.

Prior to my posting I've been reading for days amongst the relative topic, 3DsMax. This place is LOADED with useful information. Not to mention all the other bits (evil grin)
I have a desire to learn the basics. I'll admit right now that the program itself is a bit intimidating. Did I say a bit? Scratch that /insert WHOLE BUNCH!

I'm hoping from all the experience displayed by members throughout the forums, that I can get some guidance and direction to get me rolling in the wide world of modeling with a high-end program.
Previously before joining CGPersia I searched the WWW for videos relevant to "3DsMax" for dummies. I use that term loosely.

Google came up with literally hundreds (maybe more) video tutorials. Confusing actually, what ones do I watch? I watched several. Problem is that the people doing the videos were so proficient at 3DsMax that they were going far too fast for me to keep up. Even when pausing the video to catch up. I honestly haven't found anything I can grasp as far as the person doing the video goes.

I've also read through the Tutorials section here at CGP to see what members suggest. I don't have a clue if there are tutorials in there that are better than others. And I don't necessarily want to read hundreds of comments in that part of the forums. I think for my experience level I'm better off asking here for guidance, rather than spamming the forums like other people already have. The spam posts in the forums is ridiculous.

I hope someone can set me in the right direction and off to a good start.

Trimley
