Need a very specific environment painting tutorial

So, here's the deal.

I've have like thirty video tutorials about digital painting that covers stuff like outdoor environments, fantasy, cartoonish, space themed locations and stuff like that, but I need a tutorial, or even a simple step by step example of how to draw a very specific kind drawing. I know that this might or even really sound stupid, but at least to me, it is not the same.

Im looking to create drawings like the backgrounds/levels of SHANK (the game).
For those that do not know the game (which is kind of awful if you ask me), it looks like this:

Today, I've tryed a combination of techniques and got a pretty decent result, but I'm looking for a result a lot more polished, that seems more "coherent" and not so... crappy.

Code:

Content visible to registered users only.[/url]
This is a Mockup of Shank that I've made (took me like an hour or so and it's not near finished neither will ever be)

So, If some of you knows and share a tutorial about painting this kind of drawing, I will be really grateful.

PS: Didn't place this thread on the request forum because I'm not requeting a particular file, dvd or tutorial, rather than a more generic help. If it does not belongs here, please move it and I promise to be more careful in the future :)

I would have thought that of all places, this was the right one to ask...

No one has anything to recommend me (besides going to F off?)? C'mon guys! I really need some guide lines here! :D
